[Upon first waking up in Luceti, Hugo's first thought was that he knew Dalles was full of it. Of course it would be too easy for the Darkling leader's words to have been true and he could try out the demonic essence without any drawbacks. No, instead he seems to have found himself somewhere else, with his powers being lessened, his clothing, wand, and equipment being missing and a set of wings that are just hideous looking to him. Though more hideous because they look so much like the spell Dalles used to transfer the essence to him.

He did take the time to investigate the book left nearby him with his name on it. He hadn't any books on him at the time, but it was curious and some initial tests showed it wasn't demonic and safe for him to touch. Some time allowed him to find the guide and other entries by residents and get an idea of what was going on. Though he wasn't convinced fully yet that this had nothing to do with Dalles' schemes. In fact, Hugo was fully expecting to be ambushed by the Darklings as he tried to gather his things. At the very least it appeared he could still use the Eyes of Fact and his magic even now, so he wasn't defenseless.

His unease lessened as he found his things without any ambushes and the people he saw were just going about their own business and everything the book said appeared to be true so far. He went ahead and found a place to stay until he could figure out a way back to the tower or to Ys after he had tried the Lila Shell to get in touch with Eolia and found it didn't work here, the same with the Crystal.]

[And now that Hugo has settled in mostly and has had time to get his things and mull over the information he found in the guide and the journal, he has a few questions he'd like to ask.

So he writes a message in nice neat cursive.]

I am a new arrival here, a "New Feather" as ones like myself seem to be called. My name is Hugo Fact. I appreciate the information given in the guide, but I have a question. What is known about the origin of the magic and spirits here? I do not mind hearing theories if that is all that there is.

And then if there are any here who call themselves Darklings, please do go ahead and get your threats, mockery and strange comments out of the way now. I would much rather get it over with than have to wait for the pleasure of your company.

It was implied that it's been centuries, but the organization hasn't been one to readily dispense dates in regard to them.

[Hugo quickly refers back to the guide to doublecheck what is meant by organization, and sees it is the Malnosso. So much to learn right away, though it is nothing compared to his own training.]

And despite the lack of information, there is no known drawback then?

By 'drawbacks', what are you referring to exactly? [There's only one very specific incident she could mention, but it also depends on what he means.]

Any negative effect on the user or those around him or her. For instance, in my world our source of magic created demons that ended up attacking us.

Was it a form of summoning magic?

There was only one major incident that coincided with a shift effect that took place about three years ago.

It isn't. There are people who took advantage of the demons and learned to control and summon them, but this was after the demons already were created.

But this incident you speak of, was it the one mentioned in the guide about possession?

Yes, it is. [There's a pause in the writing, and a soft audible 'hmm.'] Would you prefer to discuss this in person? It'll give a better way to show examples of what the magic itself is capable of.

I did find the Welcome Center thanks to the guide. [And found that most helpful to find a place to stay as well. At least Hugo is a smart boy.] I should be able to find this tea shop then.

[And Hugo will head out soon after leaving this response. He picked a place near the plaza for his residence, but he is still somewhat unfamiliar and walks into the wrong building first before he gets the right one.]

[As promised, she arrives there roughly around the time she said she would. Rather, she had been nearby doing some errands anyway, so it just made it easier to walk over.

There are a lot of new feathers lately, so she gives a casual glance around for anyone who looks unfamiliar and might be waiting. Not many seem to go to the tea shop immediately, so there is that.]

[Hugo isn't hard to find, he arrives just moments before Raine did actually. Definitely an unfamiliar looking blond haired boy who looks in his late teens. His dark clothing and black coat do appear out of place for mid summer which also hints to him being new. He's concealing his wings under his coat.

He does definitely give an impression of being stuffy and overly regal with his manner of dress and how he carries himself. He does appear to not be carrying a weapon, not even a staff, wand, or rod.]

[She moves to approach him as soon as she narrows down that possibility, and approaches.] Good afternoon. Are you Hugo?

[Belatedly she realizes that she hadn't introduced herself properly on the journal, but she can rectify that once confirming who he is.]

[Nope, she hadn't, and he definitely would like to give thanks for the useful guide that made things easier for him to accept.]

I am indeed Hugo.

[And he's smiling a bit. It's actually nice to not have people recognize him for his resemblance to his brother and father for once. Maybe Luceti won't be such a bad place because he can be respected for himself finally.]

I'm glad it was able to help you. There's always a lot more to know than what goes in there, of course, but I try at least to provide some footing to go on.

I do try to. Father would be most disappointed in me if I couldn't handle something like this. But to the point, I am definitely interested in seeing what you wish to show me. Will the location suffice for it?
